Manduka Eko Yoga Mat Review
This mat has quickly become an essential part of my workout routine. My old mat was getting a bit rancid and worn. At the suggestion of my aunt, who heard me griping about how I didn’t like the old poly mat I had, I got the eKO. I hadn’t tried any Eco-Friendly mats before but I was drawn in by the long 71-inch size of this one, which allows me to lie stretched out in Corpse Pose without my head or heels hitting hardwood. The mat is made of natural rubber which will completely decompose when I throw it out, something I really don’t think I am going to have to do that for quite a while. According to online reviews, manduka mats usually last for a few years under regular use, and I really like this mat better than any I have had so far.

The first time i rolled it out, I was surprised that I didn’t have to keep it flat for a bit before it would stay down. This mat just stays where I put it, period. It has a sticky layer that keeps it from sliding around with some sort of textured surface, and the 5mm of padding is super comfortable. I haven’t really slipped on this mat at all either, although I try to keep it pretty well wiped free of sweat on a regular basis. I also noticed that this mat didn’t have as much of a “new mat smell” as many I have tried, although there was still a definite rubber smell to it when I got it. The most important thing for me was that the smell was not as strong or offensive. For the price, this was probably the best yoga mat I could have picked up.
